The financial aid process encompasses more than just filing your FAFSA. Depending on your situation, you may have to complete additional steps or provide documentation. Your financial aid checklist on Hornet HQ will help you see where you are in the process and if you have any additional steps to complete.
The general financial aid process consists of:
- Applying for need-based aid: The FAFSA serves as your application for need-based financial aid from federal and institutional programs. State based aid may also require you to file a FAFSA.
- Verification: You may have been selected for verification when you completed your FAFSA. If you are selected for verification, we may contact you to ask for more information.
- Award Offer: Once your financial aid offer is complete, you will be notified by the Financial Aid Office. Admitted students will receive their offer by letter and returning students will be notified by email.
- Disbursing Financial Aid: Financial aid is not disbursed until the first day of the term.
Newly admitted students may have additional steps they need to take to receive financial aid.
